Manage your files

Use Phials for ordinary file management while choosing how each location is presented and remembered. Phials works with the files and folders on disk, so a rename, move, copy, or deletion affects the same item you would see in your system’s file manager.

An Explorer tab browses one location and keeps its own navigation, selection, and file view. You can keep several locations open, use a split view when you need them side by side, and choose a presentation suited to the folder. Details emphasizes columns, Grid emphasizes visual browsing, Columns follows a folder branch, and Boards or Calendar arrange files by Workspace Folder data or dates.

Search, sorting, filtering, and grouping help narrow a busy location without changing its contents. Selecting a file updates the File panel, which shows the file and available metadata, and the Page panel, which presents Workspace Folder properties and related written context when available. Opening a file creates or focuses a file tab when Phials handles that file in the center.

When a folder needs more structure, a Workspace Folder lets Phials store properties, ratings, tags, notes, Relations, and saved views for its files. That information supplements the ordinary files rather than replacing them.

Continue with Browse and manage files for navigation and file operations. To shape what an Explorer tab shows, see Choose and configure file views and Find and narrow files. For file-centered structure beyond the filesystem, start with Organize files with Phials.
